Innovation Description

To offer a lower cost and potentially more scalable, farmer- and plot-specific approach to seed varietal selection.
How does your innovation work?
In order to contend with changing conditions, smallholder farmers need to use improved varieties of crops in areas experiencing the effects of change most rapidly.

Planned Goals and Milestones

Bioversity International, along with partner organizations: Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE), Zamorano, and Virginia Tech, will evaluate "Crowdsourcing Crop Improvement" as an alternative to the Participatory Variety Selection (PVS).
