ONLY institutions from the list of countries are eligible to apply to this Saving Brains Request for Proposals. Applications from institutions in countries not listed will not be considered. All project implementation sites must be in countries other than Canada that are listed in Appendix A.
|Target Beneficiaries||Our program is focused on the first 1,000 days of a child’s development (inclusive of growth and development during pregnancy) because this has been found to be a very influential stage of a child’s cognitive development, and all proposals should be primarily focused on children under five (5) years of age. All projects should provide a strong rationale as to why the innovation is likely to have significant sustained impact on brain development; proposals including children older than the first 1,000 days should clearly justify the importance of this impact at that age, compared to interventions given earlier|
|Planned Usage of Funds|
Saving Brains WILL NOT fund discovery science, capacity-building initiatives or ongoing programmatic funding through this Request for Proposals.A majority (greater than 50%) of the budget must be spent on activities in eligible countries other than Canada.
|Management Team||A project can have a maximum of two Project Leads, both of which must have primary affiliations to institutions in eligible countries listed in Appendix A of attached documents. At least one Project Lead must be affiliated with the institution from which the proposal is being submitted. Applicant institutions from Canada must apply with a co-Project Lead primarily affiliated with an institution in an eligible country listed in Appendix A, other than Canada|
